Over the last few months, I have been replacing this and that on the boat to ready it for some summer fun - however, I am having a real tough time identifying what the following part is. Originally thought it was a transom shield anode, but my boat parts store cannot find the part number - a search of marinepartseurope.com usually yields results, but not this time.

We are beginning to wonder... can YOU help identify the rusty part in the picture below?

There used to be a rubber bumper there but the rubber peeled off the mounting plate.

Its Volvo name is "Rubber Cushion".

It's part number 875531, item 39 in the link below from here at iboats.

Connecting Components Aq Drive Unit 270 AQ170A, AQ170B - 7736850 - Volvo Penta

You should replace before going out again...why?

If the outdrive does not lock down, or you have it part way up, then throw the boat into REVERSE, the outdrive swings up and hits the transome real hard. (Learning the hard way here.)
Without the bumper, you smash the oil fill plug into that peice of metal.

p.s. I used a rubber suspension part from an automobile I found in my basement rather than stay original :) In that chart, it's the $92 part not the $1 loccknuts!
