Are a 16 amp and 9 amp stator interchangeable???

Are a 16 amp and 9 amp stator interchangeable???

This is the part my boat calls for:

I would like to know if a 16 amp will work with the rectifier designed for the
9 amp stator or if the 16 amp requires a voltage regulator. I would like
to replace my 9 amp with a 16 amp if possible, like this one:

The 16 amp stator will work with the rectifier for a 9 amp system, however it will usually over charge the battery so a 16 amp regulator is recommended
