My boat specs say it weighs 12,600, im assuming dry. I got trailer lined up thats 15,000 capable but the owner says the boat is more like 15-16,000 thus too heavy for his trailer. Any input?

Common complaint. Dry weight of the boat is accurate for it's USCG plate. Fuel tank for a boat that big is probably 200+ gallons. At about 7 lbs per gallon, there's 1400lbs right there. 15,000 sounds quite reasonable given a dry weight of 12,600. Add the weight of the fuel at least plus anchors, lines, coolers, kitchen gear, water tanks etc. and it's easy to understand. More trailer is needed here as stuff adds up quickly.

Need a little more info to go on since you're looking to tow 13K plus pounds. What kind of boat, make, model, year, length, etc...

No. The ONLY way to know what a boat/trailer combo weighs is to take it to a certified scale and weigh it. Until then, it's all guessing.

Tilliam hit it. If you realy want to know accurately, take it to a gravel pit, scrap yard, or truck stop and have it weighted. Around here it's only $5, and you get an official weight slip that holds water at the DMV if you need it.
