I have a 2000 Yamaha 150 and a 1996 Yamaha 200. Both are 2-stroke and have carbs. I would like to know if I can put the block of the 150 on the 200 shaft and take the carbs, wiring harness, electronic control module, etc. off the 200 and put on the 150. I have been told they are the same but would like a second or third opinion. The 200 has a lot of hours on it and the 150 only has 40 hours. The only thing is the 150 was on a boat that caught on fire and the carbs and wiring harness has melted. Also the 150 is a long shaft and the 200 is a short shaft.

Drop both Lower units and check the shafts for the same spline. Then check your bolt patterns. Check the manual for both and see if they have the same mounting gaskets, carb gaskets electronics part #'s ......... research.
