I have a Bayliner with the stock 90hp Force engine and controls. I 'm wondering if I get a different motor(Evinrude, Johnson, Merc, Yam.) would the controls still work, or would I have to get new controls? Is there some kind of conversion kit for controls?

Nope, every engine has its own controls, all the cable ends are different, sort of like a Ford starter won't fit on a Chevy.

And it also matters within the same year. Some engines require a pull to increase throttle while some require push to increase throttle. This has nothing to do with the direction the lever is pushed. It has to do with whether the cable pushes or pulls to increase speed.
