Are most of the late 1985-2000 JohnnyRudes pretty reliable?

I am hunting for a new boat, and finding a lot of Tracker aluminum jon bass boats fairly cheap. I know, probably not the best built boat, but I am fairly handy with a wrench, and my budget is not very large. Anyway, a lot of them are late 80s or early 90s boats, and usually they come with an Evinrude or Johnson of the 25-60 horse variety. I know this is a very wide range of dates and models, and I'm not being very specific, but I wanted to know if there were any motors that stood out as being exceptional good, or exceptionally bad. I have seen a few "Force" motors and thought I'd read bad things about them. I am using a 1995 Evinrude 9.9 on my current boat and had fairly good luck with it, and it's easy to work on, so I'll probably stick with the brand if I can.

Stay away from "Force". That was a Mercury wet dream.

I thought I'd read the Force motors weren't so great, but what exactly makes them bad? Are parts still available for them?

When the Force was a Chrylser mtr it was good back in the 70's. Then Merc got ahold of them and they seemed to go down hill.
