Are steering arms all the same? I need one to connect my 40 hp yamaha to the steering cable in the tilt tube. The yamaha part is pretty pricey. A friend of mine has an arm for a Johnson which he was using on a mercury. He doesn't need it any more, will it fit on my yamaha? If it makes a difference I have a teleflex rotary NFB steering system. Thanks

I guess your talking about the arm that goes from the engine to the end of the steering cable ? Most manufacturers use a 3/8 fine thread bolts , studs and nuts to attach the link arm to the steering system . All you should check is the way they are bent , some are straight some are curved ,if you can find one that gives you full turning use it.
