Are tachometers repairable?

I have one of those older Mercury Quicksilver tachometers for I/O application. Do the housings come apart for repair purposes or are they sealed units?

I had a Faria "sealed " unit I was told was unserviceable after it stopped showing needle movement below 3000 rpm. It wasn't easy, but I disassembled it, lubed the needle mechanism and reinstalled it - 6 years ago. Still works.
