Hey, i dont know much about force motors, but im in the market for a new outboard and wanted to know about this brand. I was told that they werent good by a few people, and told that they were ok before were bought out, then they had problems. There are a few for sale in my area and I wanted to know if i should be checking them out or avoiding them. If there are years of force motors that are better, Id like to know why and what to look for. Any help would be great, i figured who better to ask than people that have or had these motors.

Force motors are no longer made. Parts are getting scarce but still availiable. What size motor are you looking for and how thick is your wallet?

Id like between 85 hp - 115 hp. My wallet is not too think yet, but Im saving. Ill probably be looking at the $1000 range, give or take on the condition of the motor. Im not set of getting a force motor, but would possibly consider it if the deal was good enough. My old Johnson is getting to be a pain and parts are also getting scarce since is electric shift, so im looking to get into something else that is more reliable and I can get parts for.

A force "is what it is" meaning it was more on the lower end of outboards.

Pros: 1) inexpensive to purchase. 2) pretty reliable and has good running/cruising characteristics. 3) easy to work on.

Cons) 1) parts getting harder and harder to find 2) low rpm characteristics aren't great, even by 2 stroke standards. (smokes a lot )

Weigh the pros/cons against what your normal usage is and decide whether this motor fits you.
