Are these brakes good

Hello. I have recently purchased a new project boat. At the time of pickup all wheels were removed and had free movement. Srayed some WD on the calipers and thought we were ok. One of the wheels got really hot and threw most of the grease out of the bearing buddy. I have attached some photos of the caliper. The brand is Tie Down and still available. Right now the pistons are stuck on this one, and suspect similar results on the other 3. My question is.. Are these brakes good? What about in salt water? Is it worth trying to rebuild one? It appears that a new one will be around 69.00x4.. Should I be considering a alternative. Thanks

Tie downs are junk, they always corrode and pistons seize. Might get away with them in fresh, but not in salt. I have all stainless Kodiak and have been very happy with them. Bit more $$ then tie downs but far better IMO.

The Kodiak look nice. To do 4 wheels looks like about 700.00. The steel trailer that I have, is not the best to begin with, and I am unsure about this large of an investment on this particular trailer. Most important is safety. Thanks

if the future of the trailer is questionable, try to get what you have working, or replace what you have to. this will get you by until a new trailer is in the future. either way you need brakes.

If your in saltwater, nothing but stainless will last.
How big is the boat and trailer?
How heavy?
