Are these Rule 2000 Bilge pump copies any good?

Well it says they sold over 220 of them and it looks like no one beefed about them.Your probably correct in them both being made in China, wouldn't surprise me if they came out of the same plant with different badging. IMHO there all a crap shoot for durability in that price range, might last 20 years or 2 depending on usage and environment.

Funny thing about bilge pumps - at least in my case. They get installed and then tested for performance, and then it never gets used again.

Two years ago we got hit by a phantom thunderstorm and had water over the deck. I really can't remember the last time I used the pump.

My Starcraft fishing boat has NEVER had the pump run.

When you need it, it better work. If you can save hundreds of dollars for chinaparts, maybe it might have some interest. But how much cheaper is the part in question.

I think I'll stick with Rule. Even if they are chinamade, at least a reputible company set the specs.

I have no pump in my bass boat so I figured why not spend $35 for a little more peace of mind than no pump. Than again, I'd guess a 5 gallon bucket would be faster than any pump and that's close to free.

5 gallon bucket requires 2 people, one for driving and one for pumping. The pump only requires one person driving.

I have 2 bilge pumps in my GLS 195. When it comes to safety I believe in the one is none, two is one philosophy. I have a cheap one and a Rule 2000. If your boating on a big lake or far from help i wouldnt trust that as my only pump.Having two really emptied it quick when we took a wave over the bow in a storm a couple summers ago.

I like the idea of dual pumps, also a high water alarm just in case one is not keeping up and the other don't work for any given reason. On a smaller boat you may not need the high water alarm as your feet get wet letting you know it's to deep.

I'm gonna be buying a second one for a backup (that same one). mine is just a 500gph. I haven't needed it yet, and hopefully never will, I rinse out my sump area each time I clean up the boat and test the bulge pump jic.
