Are these spark plugs close enough?

I have a 99 Volvo SX 5.7GL. I did a cross reference with Champion on my engine and they said I needed an RV15YC4. I purchased them and started to install. I looked at my manual to find the correct gap and the chart in the manual said the 5.0GS uses the Chapion RV15 but that the 5.7GL uses the RV12. I understand the difference is in the heat range but can I use the plugs I did get or is there sufficient enough difference I should get the correct ones as specified in the catalogue?

Thanks in advance.

Don't mess with the wrong plugs, at best they won't fire correctly in the right spot for your engine, at worst, they may be too long and you could have a piston strike....bad news. Go with what VP recommends.

First, I have to assume you have either a 5.0GL or a 5.7GS, since in 99 they did have a 5.7GL.
It's possible it's not a 99, because the year of your boat may not be the year of your engine package.
Best thing to do is post the complete model number or in this case better to post the Volvo SN for the engine.

Avoid champion plugs no matter what size they are. You want either the AC MR43LTS or the NGK BPR6EFS
