Are troll motors more effective in the front or the back of boat?

I see pairs mounted on trim tabs. I assume they run one or the other to steer or run both to go straight. My question is, is it easier for a single troll motor to pull, or push a boat? How would maneuverability be affected if it was mounted in the rear verses the front of the boat? Kevin

Front mounted trollers are far superior for maneuvering, Kevin. They may be controlled from anywhere on the boat with wireless or long wire remote pushbutton controllers.

Easier? I don't think either moves the boat "easier" than the other. For traditional trolling (only) I guess either works well. For maneuvering it is a no-brainer.

The engine mounted trollers add some drag and are a viable option when neither the bow nor the transom lend themselves to troller mounting. I suppose they might be a choice if the boat has autopilot controlling the steering of the main engine and only traditional, straightline trolling is contemplated..

For bass fishing when you are gonna be in tight cover, you will want to opt for a bow. Think of it this way. Imagine the boat as a trailer, and a trolling motor as the truck.
going forward, you can pull a trailer all day through twists and turns and such. It just trails the truck.
Now. think about going backward. you have to constantly steer and try to position the trailer in the right place.
If a bit of wind pulls the boat off, you have to reposition the troller.
