http://www.nmma.org/certification/programs/oils/

Interesting, just what all these specs are and why they are there and what they are supposed to do for you, your engine, and the environment. For the mentally inquisitive, makes for some interesting reading.

Like take Merc oil for example. Merc doesn't make oil; nor does OMC, nor Yamaha. They send a spec to oil companies and buy from which ever one they choose based upon some criteria and all.

So to just say you put Merc oil in your rig because it has the Merc name on it is ok, but that doesn't meam that Pennzoil synthetic or others can't do as good or better a job; I personally will take syn's over paraffin based any day of the week. I can't find where the Merc oil has any synthetic components, don't advertise it so I guess there are none, but when I go to my Penzoil dist, I can buy all synthetic products for my rig.....hmmmmmmm.

All it means is that Merc didn't test it; doesn't say Pennzoil didn't, nor that it won't work. Besides, if you can't trust the yellow can in petroleum, who can you trust??????

Quakers? Dunno! Now don't get me wrong. I'm not a yellow bird; actually prefer Wally World oil. Grin...for my tractors, not my outboard. Grin again. But will take syn over paraffin hands down; proven time and time again to be a superior product.

My 2c

Mark

Mark
