Heavens....just dropped a wad on inserting the copper tube properly back in to the power head, first 5 times out ran beuatiful spraying more water than i thought would come out....last time out...NO water, and I mean no water coming out. Replaced water pump housing/imp et al prior to copper tube re-installation.

Now here is my pea-brain working......Is it possible since the amount of water being blown out actually created/exposed a clog in the thermostat itself. Or in other words, can a stuck/siezed t-stat block passage?

If no, I guess it could be just bad luck with the new merc imp and it failed already completely, possibly (i guess) the pin in driveshaft broke, possibly the 4 bolts holding the housing in have backed off or something creating no contact between pin and imp., possibly a clog elsewhere But Where?.

Tests I can think of...
1. force muffs (not running motor) to see if water comes out from pee holes removing all above questions.
2. hose to copper tube, see if water pushes out pee holes
3. test back and waist muscles as I remove the whole shebang and insert a new yamaha...im getting close!!!

I would put a new impeller in it and try that. I have had new impellers crap out after a couple of outings. They dont make them like they used to.

new impeller, water spewing out the holes. WOW...less than maybe 3 hours on the impeller. Oh well, luckily the dang copper tube stayed in place!

Re: argh!! 89 Force 50 hp 507Y9B no water

In the last 5 years I have had two defective ones. Both had the brass center that separated from the rubber which allowed water at idle then when opening the throttle the torque on the rubber became too much and the brass just spun inside the rubber. I took it apart the first time and saw nothing wrong with it. Since then I buy the cheaper ones without the brass and have had much better luck with it. You would think if you want one thing to be perfect on the outboard it would be that impeller. If it goes it can really ruin your day.
