Hey guys.....My trim was not working right and got the thing off and the brushes were wore out. So I got new brushes and took it a starter shop to have them soldered back on and everything cleaned and went and picked it up and the guy said I was ready to go. Well, got everything back together and hit the trim switch and I could hear it spin, but no movement. I took everything back off and took the trim motor apart and on the bottom of the armature where the shaft goes into the pump, the little hex head that goes into the pump was broke off.

Is there anyone that can give me advice how I might fix this without going through the trouble of waiting for a new armature? I do have a allen head that will fit, but I not sure if it will hold if I try to mend it back together.

Advice, please..........

You might be able to weld on a new end. I would check to see if the pump binds, so it won't break off again.

Arco makes aftermarker replacement trim motors for many outboards. if you wore out the brushes, you have put a lot of use on that motor. It my fail on you in the near future. Also, a new armature may cost more from merc, than a new motor from Arco.
