While I'm waiting on a float for the carb to get here, I wanna go ahead and install points, condensers and coils. I was just wondering if I can remove the armature plate with the points, condensers and coils still intact?? Then I could move the armature plate with everything intact from the garage to the bar in the house so I can study all of it with better light and A/C. And while in there I can install the points and condensers. I think I will probally need to install the coils while in the garage with the armature plate mounted back on the motor??? There is no place in the house where I can do all the work. And I dont have a shop. The garage is my shop.... Any suggestions and will this work??? Thanks.... Fishermanms

You can do everything more easily with the plate still installed, including point-setting, and any variance due to wear. Leave it all together.

Of course. There are four phillips head screws near the center. Two go through the coils. They are captive, meaning you just unscrew them several turns and they'll turn loose of the ratainer but stay in the plate. Then disconnect the throttle arm and free up any wires, and lift it off.

The coils' laminated cores ends are to be aligned flush with the machined posts on the armature plate where they sit. You can do all that in the house. Naturally, you have to have it on the motor to set the points.

this is a bigger motor but is essentially what you will be looking at. these coils are toast by the way.
