Found a 1994 16' Sea Nymph with a 25 Evin that I want to buy for a fishing rig. I noticed when I was looking at it - it's only rated for 4 person/600lb. We typically go with three of us and we are over 600 total with no gear and like a 1000 geared out with anchors, seats and stuff. Are these numbers conservative or is that the max? I weight about 165, my dad about 280 and my brother about 290. Should we keep looking or what? Seems a little low for a 16'?

look for a bigger boat, or put someone on a diet. that 200 over the limit plus gear, gas, cooler.

Yep , you need to look for something a bit larger , I'd say .
~18 " would be the minimum for that load , along with the max rated HP to push it along .
Also , think of how much space you have for 4 people , especially if you are casting .

An overloaded boat is a PIA in good conditions when the bite is on .
Throw in bad weather/conditions , and , a slow bite , and things will get ugly quick .

Keep looking , or , plan on leaving some folks at the dock , IMO .

there is plenty of room for three people but the weight is what I am worried about. Does that sound right for a 16' boat? it just seems awfully low. I swear I have seen 16' boats with 3 people before but I guess they are all made a little differently.

boats are made differently, you need a high sided boat. i don't believe the 25 on that boat, and the weight you have, that the boat would plane.
