Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows an easy way of manually triggering the power pack from a 1975 johnson outboard while cranking to test if there is spark. I don't have one of those neon test thingys either.
Cheers in advanced from down under...

Welcome. Remote starter. This is used to replace the boat-side harness for engine testing, and fits most OMC engines 1969 to 2000. Remove all plugs when testing, set the gap to 7/16 of an inch, and the spark should jump it with a bright blue ZAP!! You will also need an adjustable inline spark tester.

Re: artifitial triggering power pack

Not too sure if thats what I'm after, I want to test the power pack buy putting in a 1.5 volt spike into the trigger input on the pack to see if it reacts, Is this just as simple as sticking a aa battery across pack terminal 8 and 11 to test spark on coil 1 while cranking. Does this make sence to anyone else, lol
cheers

Ah , misunderstood. My question though is why??

A DVA meter is the best testing device, replacing the neon testers long ago.
