Hi! I just wanted to sort of say hello, and introduce myself. :)

Over the years I have gotten more useful information off of forums than I could even begin to tell you --- on everything from scuba diving to taking care of pet ferrets (THAT was an adventure - for sure!)

I am an avid scuba diver (3 or more times a week) who just bought my first boat, and figured it would be a good thing to jump in here for some additional education.

I live in the Las Vegas valley, and most of my time on (or in) the water is on Lake Mead. I bought the boat - a '94 Larsen 214 LXi off of one off my dive buddies. He's got it all fixed up with custom scuba-tank racks and a custom ladder for climbing back aboard in heavy dive gear. I'm pretty pleased with it so far...but know I have tons to learn. :)

Thanks for being here!
btw...are there any other divers on here by chance? - just curious....
thanks!

Welcome Vegas Diver. You will learn alot about boats, and a bunch of other stuff here.

Ahhh, pet ferrets. Yes, they are an adventure. I had one for a while ... till Jake the Ferret got out of his room while I was at work and ate a 3/4 lb bag of peanut M&M's (bag and all). When I got home there was multi-colored poop all over the house! That was the START of the end of Jake.

The final straw was when he climbed in bed with me and bit me where the sun don't shine ... a very tender area ... Jake flew across the room and the next day Jake found a new home!

Re: as new as a newb can be....

I'm a certified diver although I haven't been in many years. When I lived in SE Florida, I would go "somewhere" every week. Also working in Marinas, I would make a lot of money doing things like cleaning bottoms, retrieving dropped items, replacing zincs, etc. Since moving to Indiana I just don't have the easy opportunity anymore. Kind of a drag.

As to this forum, it's filled with a lot of knowledge and I'm sure if you have any questions, you'll be able to find the answer here.

Wow! You guys are great! talk about making a girl feel at home!!

I'm out on the boat about 3 times a week .... I have managed to get just enough stuff tucked away that I can leave straight from work, go right to the slip, hit the lake and go diving ~ without having to go home for anything first.
*sigh* :)

funny, ...my job seems a bit less stressful lately.... lol

(now, if the daytime high temperatures will just drop to something a little gentler....I'm not asking for much....just 110 would be a nice cooling trend)

omg...yes, m&m's...and ...um...biting "toes" (surely it was...ahem...your "toe", right?) LOL!!! that's terrible!
I actually had 4 of them for a while...yes, 4... 4 pet ferrets, at the same time. Cleary I was insane. lol! Things are much better now... ~lol~

Insane is an understatement!:eek: They are fun and cute little critters, very social. Jake would go to work with me at times, sit on my shoulder as I sold cars, scamper around the dealership, etc. But when they are bad, they are HORRID. Jake chewed through a door once to get out while he was "locked" in his room and I was at work. Then he learned how to get out without chewing the place apart ... that was when he got into the M&M's.

And the bite was a little higher than the toes ... and lower than the arms :eek:.

As much as ferrets love to play, I couldn't imagine 4 of them running around the house! YIKES!
