ATT installed some software (SW) about a week or so on the wife's smart phone. It want's her to allow ATT to store her contact info on their server for backup. She continues to decline the offer and the real problem is it won't let her get to her contacts on Google. Just spent an hour with tech support and they say the only fix is to accept and allow this to happen. Appears they can load SW anytime they feel like it. I sent an email to the KY attorney general to see what they have to say.

Anyone else having this issue?

Not ATT but after scrubbing my old droid phone to send it back, I discovered that many of my rarely used contacts didnt get transferred over during the droid to droid transfer. Not wanting to miss anything, at transfer I choose to transfer everything from all the accounts on the phone.

Best O can tell, its the Google contacts (from 2 different gmail accounts) that are whats missing....

Perhaps its partially Google....

Gmail account is loaded on the new phone, no option to import the contacts.

Doubt it's google because it was working fine until this message came up about ATT. Basically its and advertisement for ATT services. The wife's phone is a Droid. Her contacts are not imported they remain on Google.

I have a old flip phone and all mine are on the sim card

I still think its google/gmail related.

I finally had to load gmail in my phones browser, rather then from the app, export then import my google contacts to my new phone.

And google has changed its setup and access to gmail since I got this phone. Now it wants to auto open the gmail app, then the mobile parsed version next when I go to the gmail site on the phones browser.

Anything is possible but it is an ATT request, not google. ATT ask do you want to, we say no, and it repeats the request. She is unable to stop the request from ATT
