They decided to do it a few months ago. The National Weather Service has said they were not going to recognize the names though. I thought it was a publicity stunt anyway, dont see many winter storms though.
Big crock of you know what. We get 4-5 "big" winter storms a year. Comes with the territory. Lots of flooding, damaged homes, downed power lines, etc. Most don't get mentioned outside the area let alone the national news.
