Not sure if I've seen this product mentioned on here but It should be IMHO. If it has been then guess that's why I'm a dumb old Okie and a Glasser!!!!

My son informed me about it while working on his vintage VW Bus and I must say it is some BAD MOJO STUFF!!! I truly think it could be used to repair Small Corrosion issues in aluminum fuel tanks, as well as hulls and transom. I really think you guys with aluminum boats should do some investigation on this product. My son coated his rusted out floor boards with it and when it set up it was like steel. Mulitiple build up coats and all I can say is WOW. I works as advertised.

I think I have just the transom for some testing. I love new types of stuff and goop. Sure tried and true is the safe bet but that stuff maybe on par with marine tex which would've been my choice. So what did your boy say about how well it sands, not much of an issue under carpeted floor boards but on a nice flat transom or hull it could be a problem.

Good stuff, ive used it for years on frames and trans housings. You can spray it, then coat with their stirling silver topcoat to get a nice sparkly aluminum finish.....it starves the rust from oxygen, and even seals pin holes. Stirling S is $54 a qt.

Yeah, I've really been researching it and it appears to be an outstanding product. Evidently been used in the auto restoration business for decades and is a proven product and stands up well to salt and heavy abuse. I'm thinkin about using it on my utility trailer. I wonder if there's any way to get it other colors or to do your own tinting??

If you want color, you top it with their flexcote......This combo would do well on a trailer, even in salt.

Yep, I found that! I'm thinkin this could be a viable method for painting an aluminum boat for a long lasting finish. What say the rest of you!!!!

Re: Attention All Tinners!!

Interesting claims of greatness. I love greatness but it always come with a price. I've got a paint job down the road but that stuff is 3 times the cost of rusto topside and is it 3 times better? Add up all the costs, primer 2 coats POR paint base 2 coats and then the topcoat of Felxcoat (1 or 2 coats of it?) you would be POOR.

Fortunately though the ole Chief isn't really a "get me on the water" budget build. Maybe shoot the interior with rusto and the outside with POR? Anyone used the Flexcote yet? I will have to think about it, shooting 6 layers leaves a lot of room for disaster.

Edit: Also a question WOG, would you think the hardener would be a no no with the Flexcote?

This metal boat guy is also a total bottom feeder, through and through.

I'm sure it's super stuff (have always heard great reviews) but at that price, I'm out.
Bummer:blue:

I don't think you need hardener with flexcote.
