Friends,

I've found a "tin" Lone Star MEDALLION with SERIAL NUMBER 54610386.

Can any of you identify the YEAR OF MANUFACTURE, so that the "bonded title", which I will have to purchase to register the boat, will reflect the correct year??
(The current title says that it was built over a decade after both Lone Star & Chrysler Marine were defunct.)

THANKS, satx78247

How about a picture of the outside and inside of the boat, transom details help as well.

here's what I found... European Vessel Identification Number (ENI) belonging to an inland vessel. The Authority Number is 546 and can be looked up here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENI_number).

The Serial number of this watercraft is 10386.

so it looks like you have some homework ahead of you ....

Got any state rego numbers on the bow? I don't think ENI registration applies.

GA_Boater, et. al.,

The "tin" Lone Star was last registered according to the state registration decal in Texas, USA in 1982. The TX- number has faded out to the point of being illegible. - Even if the TX numbers could be read, it likely would make no difference since boats which have expired TX registration over 10 years ago, are routinely reassigned to a new/different boat & the previous ownership information is thereafter deleted.

Nonetheless, the decal number & serial number on the transom match & says: 54610386.
Note: A forum member of another boating forum says that the first number in the hull number (5) is the year = 1965. The next 3 digits is the style number(461). and The last 4 digits is the sequence of manufacture number, starting with 0001 (386).
(I do NOT know if the gentleman is correct or not.)

yours, satx78247 (Tex)

I never had to use a title bond in Texas, but I would use 1965 for the bond paperwork. The purpose of the bond is to protect someone from a prior owner/lien holder when the chain of ownership is broken. I found the blurb below here - https://www.suretybonds.com/states/texas/certificate-of-title-bond.html

The Texas Department of Transportation requires vehicle owners who have lost or obtain insufficient proof of ownership for their vehicles to post three-year surety bonds. The purpose of a Texas certificate of title bond is to indemnify any prior owner, lienholder and subsequent purchaser of the vehicle, or person acquiring any security interest in it and their respective successors, against any expense, loss or damage that occurs as a result of the issuance of the certificate of title for the vehicle.

By posting the title bond, the principal (vehicle owner) takes full responsibility for any loss that occurs as the result of the information listed on the bond application.

You may already know all that good stuff, Tex.

GA_Boater,

YES, a friend at TP&WD told me that much & said, "You need to know the actual year that your runabout was built". - Titles in 2020 are being VERY carefully checked for correctness in every detail, = LOTS of stolen boats & phony paperwork, I would guess.

Yours, Tex
