Audible alarm problem

When I took my boat out to the lake and started the engine, I notice that there was an audible alarm coming from right under steering wheel. It would not stop. I've checked all the gauges to make sure the oil pressure, temp. gauge, and fluild levels are correct. All appears to be normal. I then turned the engine off and turned it back on. The audible alarm does sound, but turned off after a few seconds (which is normal).
After the trip and flushing the engine at home, the audible alarm came back. I've traced it down to the the temp. gauge where the audible device is hooked up to. I'm not sure if the temp. gauge is whacked, or the audible device is whacked. The temp. gauge reading appears to be working fine and stay in the proper temp. setting when idling.
Any though or help to isolate this issue? I though the audible alarm is suppose to sound when reaching high temp.

Re: Audible alarm problem

What we are working on here is, when starting the engine, the audible alarm sound and does not turn off. It's just like a car when you start it, there is a sound at the beginning, then it turns off. In this case, it does not.

This is 2003 Chaparral Volvo Penta 3.0 SX.

Volvo Penta 3.0 SX.

Alrighty,... That's the tidbit We need,.... Unfortunately,... I don't do Volvos...
I do know that those Alarms are for water temp,+ oil pressure...
On a Merc, there's a Switch in the T-stat housing, near the heat gauge sender...
And, down on the portside of the block, there's an oil alarm Switch mounted next to the oil pressure sender....
You can Test 'em by unplugging 1 to see if the buzzer shuts off,... Motor runnin' of course...
Grounding the wire should give a solid alarm...
I'm bettin' Volvos are similar... If I'm wrong, I'm sure there'll be Plenty of volunteers to say so,...;) :)
