Audible alarm when boat is turned off? What is it?

I have a 204 FNS Reinell. There is an alarm ONLY when boat is not running. It goes off when the ignition key is turned to the off position and also when the ignition key is not even in the boat. At first when I would turn the boat off, it would take a few minutes to start. Now the alarm just sounds as soon as I turn off the boat. The only ways to turn off the alarm is to start up the boat or turn the battery switch to the off position.

I looked under the dash board and the alarm is a small red cap about a quarter in diameter and 3/4 inch thick.

While the alarm is on, I checked motor temperature which was normal if not cool.

Sounds like an alarm to indicate a low battery maybe? Or that you left some aux. device powered?

Thanks for the reply. I will start by saying that no aux device was on during alarm.

Question to ya...I thought about low battery, but have you ever heard of an alarm going off when boat is off and key is removed?

Well .. as my name implies I am an RV guy not a boat guy ...but yes in RV's three things come to mind 1) low battery, 2) LP or O2 alarm or 3) an LP or O2 alarm that has low voltage.

But also in my merc there is an alarm for low oil pressure, high temp, etc. To test this alarm it goes off in the on position until the engine starts. Maybe your ignition is not fully off or has a short..
