Auto 4.3 cam questions

Hello, Im new here, just bought a 88 searay with a frozen engine, pulled it out and stuffed in a brand new vortec 4.3 auto engine that i got super cheap and added a 4 barrel intake and edelbrock 1409 carb. just got it running but while searching threads about carb tuning i see lots of warnings about improper cam profiles sucking water into the engine. is my stock auto cam going to be a problem? I havent had it in the water yet so its not too late to swap out the cam if need be. thanks for any info
