I have an older merc and I'm tired of pre mixing my gas. Has anyone ever seen or heard about these Auto Blend systems, if so, any info would be great and if you nknow where I could buy one, even better....thanks.

After loosing 2 powerheads back in 87 to the autoblend system malfunctions on a brand new 115 (mercury warrentied both) I certainly would not recommend the system to anyone. I removed the system and never had anouther problem with the engine. On a 1 to 10 scale I would rate the Auto Blend system as JUNK!

A Auto Blend has nothing to plug, it is operated by the fuel being pumped through it by the fusl pump the only connectons to the engine are electical and the fuel line.

this may sound odd but is their a difference between an auto blend system and a oil pump? do you know where I can get a picture of a auto blend? My boat has a small looking black plastic thing with 2 lines. could this be a auto blend system not a oil pump? if so whats invovled in changing my oiling from this to going only with premix?
thanks

Sounds like you have a gear pump. just remove it and the drive gear, Mercury use to make a plug for the block when installing a new powerhead on a older motor, you can also make a plate to block hole, It's better to use the one from merc as it plugs the hole in the block to prevent puddling or if the engine is spit the hole may be filled with a aluminuin/epoxy compound and plate on the outside.

the auto blend system is a remote oil tank mounted inside the boat, your clear fuel enters on side and is mixed with oil and then leaves the other side and goes directly to your engine, there should be an electrical connection as well, if this is what you have Cadet and don't want it, let me know.
