Re: auto oiler

That question will bring nearly as many impassioned opinions as an ethanol thread. After doing some reading about the OMC VRO system I've concluded that the OMC system is pretty darned reliable. I know nothing of the Suzuki system, you'd probably do well to sit down for an hour or two and research how it works and if there have been any consistent failure modes with it.

Had a 5.0 Merc I/O and added a 25 hp trolling motor. No desire to use a separate fuel tank with a mix so-- just added the 1 gallon oil reservoir. FANTASTIC!!!! Never a problem and that motor probably had a minimum of 1500 hrs at mostly low rpm pushing a heavy 26'er.

Re: auto oiler

I'll get blasted as well...but here goes anyway.

I've had exactly 4 auto oiler systems in my lifetime of one kind or another. ALL failed at one time or another. My preference is for a 4-stroke, but for the many 2-stokes I own all have the oil mixed in with the gas.

Sure auto is convenient and lazy way to go, but really!!, what does it take to pour a few ounces of oil in before you fillerup?

When you average 1,000 gallon of fuel and 20 gallons of oil a season, they will pry the "automatic oiler out of my cold dead hands.....
