Ok I put on a auto slave solenoid $9.99 and the engine only turns over in neutral, as soon as I go to give it a little throttle after priming the engine for first time start up(pumping the throttle) It will only turn over in neutral? When the other solenoid was working properly I was able to push the throttle about 1/4 way and start her up, Do I need a specific solenoid is there a difference? they look identical.

The slave has no effect on the shift control, it only trips the main solenoid on the starter.
For the "throttle only function" you pull the handel outward to release it, or you push a button in to release it. This give you throttle only for starting, once you pull back to neutral , the shift box goes into "normal mode"
For your insurance to be effective in case something happens I`d look into a marine fuel pump mounted to the engine and steel line to the carb.

Thanks again Bt Doc, Damn I feel so stupid, Your right I didn't pull out the throttle and angage it in neutral with some throttle, Yes that explains it!! Man its been two years since I had her in, I engaged her in gear and put your at 1/4, Yes the solenoid works just fine, going to bury my head in the sand now out of shame. Early signs of old timers!!
