Good Day Everyone.

I don't know if any of you have had or remember this type of plug. Last time I saw one was in the mid 80's. It is a rubber flap that extends out from the plug that lets water out when on plane or on the trailer, but once in the water closes up and won't let water in.

Has anyone seen these, knows the correct name, or where to get them, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance, Craig

I noticed that one has to be on a boat lift or it is recommended. I remember the old duck bill units, had one many, many years back and it worked great, just had to remember to replace it when it got dry and cracked.

No.......... that's not what it say's here is a copy/paste from site
The Bail-R-Matic is a simple but brilliant product. It works similar to a "check valve" to drain your boat when your driving it, trailering, or docking on boat lift. This is done automatically. When you are launching your boat or sitting still the plug closes off so you dont have to worry about water getting in.

I would like to know what "DNR approved in many states." and "It is approved by the D.N.R. in most states" means, With no citation it is just words and meaningless.

My question is why do you need this? Getting a lot of water in the boat from something other than rain?

What happens if/when fish scales get lodged in the valve and it won't close properly?

The influx of water would flush the scales........and restore proper function I guess, I really dont know but would guess it was tested for different conditions prior to manufacture.......... or the liability would be over the moon.

I like the ability to drain water from swimmers/skiers, ice chests and such without having to use the bilge pump. I feel the pump should only be used when all else fails. We had one on out old family boat and loved it.

While Mercury did build them--or rather, Brunswick which owns Mercury did--the Force engines were changed quite a bit over the years. While they are still basically the old West Bend/Chrysler crossflow block, pistons were changed and rod length and bearing area was increased. These changes along with the Mercury ignition yielded increased horsepower. These engines were strong runners and certainly not your father's Chrysler. Also, on some models, Mercury added oil injection. So while technically incorrect, a case could be made for calling the last couple of year's production as Mercury/Force.
