My wife is running the avg free edition and has some viruses in her vault(probably 10 or so). My question is can I get rid of them from the vault without causing any damage? If I wipe objects do they actually get rid of the viruses or does it send them back to my comuputer files where they came from? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. When I check the AVG site on FAQ's, I can't find the answear to this question. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: AVG Free Edition question on viruses

Unless the files in the vault are system files, you should be able to safely remove them from the vault. Any files with random characters are a safe bet to remove, ones with actual names you can just look up on Google.com and the first few results will let you know if it's a virus or a system file. Keep in mind that some system files do become affected and as far as I know, any file put in the vault is no longer accessible by the system to do ay further harm so if your computer hasn't been acting strange, they should be safe to remove.

I would suggest you make sure that once in a while you do a full system scan from Windows Safe Mode without networking. Sometimes when a file is being used by the system (automatically started up at boot in regular mode) they can not be removed.
