Re: B&S Inboard

Brigs??? As in Briggs and Stratton?? As in yard implement engines??

If so...I guess anything's possible. But I wouldn't count on pulling many skiers with one though...

I've seen boats powered by similar engines...loooooong drive shafts protruding out the back of what appears to be an air cooled engine. Usually see these on the Discovery Channel that's doing a feature on some Asian or South American country...

Walt

These rigs were used in Pine Island Florida about 20 years ago in trout boat for trolling, inboard no reverse.

Thanx for the feedback..
I had seen them on 18' or less Skiffs,
true, Not much for speed, but an economical way to cruise around the sounds and rivers.

It's just something i wanted to "project" on.....I like being different.

Actually what you are talking about is a go-devil. They are real popular in Louisiana for duck hunting in the swamps. Check out www.godevil.com

Re: B&S Inboard

I helped an older gentleman pull one out of a boat a couple of years ago. It was an older 20hp Briggs & Stratton motor I don't remember what exactly it was hooked to for gear selection but it did have reverse and a straight shaft drive. A real beast to get started too, I believe it was out of an old fishing or crab boat
