Those Go-devils are great for those with deep pockets who run the shallows. I was looking into a Briggs inboard idea a few months ago, and didn't find out much. My latest idea is a vertical shaft 5 hp Briggs mated to a lower unit from a dead outboard. If I get nuts enough to try it, I'll let you know how it works!
Yep, it'll make a lot of racket. Not much good for fishing or hunting, it's more of a home-grown "junkyard wars" kind of project for my brother and I. If we can get a coupling worked out, and fabricate an adaptor to an old OMC lower it should work. And have a very low probability of getting stolen!
Yo FPlug:<br />Careful if you're planning to use a lawnmower engine......you have to add a flywheel if the blade is removed. I imagine a round steel plate 6"-8" inches in diameter 3/4" thick added to the output-shaft should do....<br /><br />good luck!
The boat you describe was used by commicial trout fishermen in Pine Island Sound Florida. A search on Lee, and Charlotte county may turn up something. The boats were rigged like an inboard
