I have a 1985 Bayliner Capri and I'm trying to remove the back seat tops next to the motor, to have them reupholtered, but they won't budge! I don't want to break anything, so what's the trick?

Welcome aboard! without pics hard to say but I would have to assume that they are bolted on from the back of it's mounting surface so access to that area is going to have to be a must to remove. Good luck

Thanks,

I thought that too, but it's filled with styraofoam. You can't get behind them at all. I thought they slid up or snapped in, but no luck!

Try looking for screws between the pleats in the exterior covering of the back rest, that's how the back rests on my Maxum Cuddy where fastened in place.

max!

Re: Back Boat Seat Top Removal

Hi,

Great, that worked! There were 3 screws, 2 on eitherside, up top where the side seam was floded over. I really had a hard time with the bottom one, it was screwed through the foam through to the wood. Thanks again!

I'm not going to put a seat bottom there again, I think I may replace it with a piece of wood at the bottom to cover the battery. It's where you have to step off the ladder to get into the boat.
