Hi Guys. I had a tough , long day tues. My friend Walter had a worse one. He cought the bed he was on , on fire (yup too much to drink) now has 30% of body burned to third degree. Lots of soot in his lungs. I'D like to ask everyone to add to my prayers to speed his recovery. He is in ICU in a Boston burn unit under heavy sedation. He's a life long boater/fisherman and Nam vet too. I'm sure he's tough enough to fight through . But a long road awaits. Peter

Wow, sorry to hear that. :( They say drinking and driving don't mix. I guess drinking and smoking don't mix either. Have anybody try a flame retardant mattress? I've heard they're available but don't know how good they're.

Awwwww, that sux, Peter. Sure hope he heals well and quickly.

Smoking in bed is dangerous enough, but smoking in bed while plastered may be as dangerous as driving while plastered, except that it is not as dangerous to innocent bystanders.

Thanks guys. and JB I agree. I've been trying to keep him focused on His boat+ fishing as that keeps him sober. I had dropped him off and began working on my out board, and then heard his house guest yelling help.
my friend was on the kitchen floor in flames ; his room glowing orange.
I ran back to the boat grabbed 2 of my 3 extinguishers an ran back in . put him out and knocked down his bedroom .God I'm glad I put off doing my other errands I needed to do!

Prayers to ya, and if you hadn't thought quickly, contrary to JB's comment, could have been dangerous to innocent bystanders as well. Fire is deadly and can get out of control and do lots of damage to body and property.

To all my iboating friends, if you must smoke, please do not do it in bed.

My friend Walt is holding stable ; under sedation . the Dr's are cleaning the worst wounds + draining fluids with incisions to relieve swelling / keep circulation going. Thanks for the prayers guys!
