My boat ran great. It's a 1973 14' St Laurent (??) runabout with a 1969 Chrysler 35 hp. Just rewired lights, bilge, horn, sonar, etc before the trip. I finally took my gps out with the boat, and with 3 adults and an 8 year old we were going 22 mph, and solo I got the boat to 26.2 mph.

Also had kids skiing behind the boat. Pulled 65 pnd kid out of the water like nothing at all. Neat beginner skiis that have handles at boat ends so your spotter is literally holding the rope, and the other end of the rope is tied to the skiis, then to the skiier's handle. Neat setup...good for getting the kids up quick and easy first shot.

Have not tried tubes yet, but should pull a tube with a kid no problem too. I need to redo my transom, floor, stringers over the winter before trying to tie ropes to the back of the boat though....

I'm just very pleased with the boat....

Rock Island Lake....off the Shawanaga River....up 69 between Parry Sound and Pointe au Baril. We rent a cottage for a week every year.....love that lake. Nice and quiet....no through traffic to the Bay.....lots of Crown land.

I'm actually a bit worried about what will happen with the hwy 69/400 4 lane expansion. It will cut into our lake, but we're not sure where yet. Hopefully the new road will follow the old one almost exactly so to minimise the impact.....

FWIW, and I don't known the mechanics so well, but a properly inflated tube experience shouldn't be any more than the skier. If anything, I'd argue that a tube has less resistance when its well inflated.

I got a "Big Mable" and under-inflated it. It was an enormous drag, but I was afraid it would burst if I filled it more. I call the manufacturer and they said; "I've never heard of one bursting because it was inflated too much." I went back and filled the thing until it couldn't take any more. We went out again and people could stand on the thing. Pulling it, with 2 people on it, was like pulling a piece of rope...amazing.

But then you know your transom!!
