Back then we could look at an exploded view of an engine that showed general assembly and part numbers. Tell me- did anyone copy these diagrams to the internet? Where are they? I threw out my MF viewer about the time Pentium came out. Is there a site or many that this information is archived in?

Most of that stuff is copyrighted, Ksanksan, but there are a few sites that allow you to view them. Downloading might be another matter.

Good luck. :)

Those were the good old days.I, ve got Evinrude back to 56 and Johnson back to 54. They were different engines in those days .In my opinion M.F. part search is much faster and concise than my dealings the companys online part pages.Sad that these companies are shoving them down our throats.

Parts books can be ordered by any dealer, along with owners manuals and service manuals. Literature for older motors is sometimes handled by other companies such as Ken Cook, Inc.

What particular engine model do you have?

Ksan- try a mega-search for "online microfiche"...believe me,I've tried everything to find 'em myself but being a dealer of all 7 outbrands gives me access to the manufacturers...However, for 2 good ones(unfortunately not Johnnyrudes)are: www.hlsm.com for sterndrives,volvo,pwc,4 wheelers,cycles...and Yamaha's : www.yamaha-motor.com/service/service.asp There you can go to parts manuals, service manuals, owners manuals
