Backwards pylon?

I need to get my tow point higher, but can't do a tower, and am pretty restricted on a pylon.
But I have an idea for a pylon that would sit at the transom, and have support legs or straps that run forward to either side of the boat.
The pylon would be mounted into a base plate that's bolted to the transom.
Basically just a backward ski pylon, but beefier.

Sounds like you're thinking of an Insanity Pylon or similar?
There are a few threads on here about making your own as well.

Similar to an Insanity, but closer to a traditional ski pylon, only backwards.
Most ski pylons have a main post with support legs that run down to the rear of the boat.
Can you have a main post at the rear of the boat with support legs going forward?
Would there be enough support from the pull of the skier or wakeboarder?

with a skier or boarding being pulled, the front legs of your proposed reverse pylon would be pulled up away from the floor. a conventional pylon's back legs would be under compression, being pushed into the floor.

with the proper bracing, no reason it couldn't work. without proper bracing, not a good idea. you could rip the legs out of the floor.

May I ask why you want to do it this way? What type of boat do you have? Sounds odd on why you want to reverse things around. But not sure what type of boat you have and the restrictions either.

youtube.com/bigpoppakdog shows my pylon. No drilling into your boat, no permanent mounts etc....You can adjust the lengths to suit your boat needs. Mine ends up towards the rear of the boat, but you move the base towards the front also.

I think that as long as the bracing is at enough of an angle to provide good side to side support (straps all the way to the front cleats may not be a great idea), it should work just fine.
You'll just have to rethink the mounting a bit, as mentioned the legs will be in tension rather than compression, so the screws/bolts will need to be quite a bit stronger than otherwise.

A picture of the boat may would be helpful. There maybe a solution you have not thought of, that someone on here has already encountered.

Ya, I figured the tension might be a bit of an issue.
I've got a Sea Rayder jet boat. Other than a tower, there just aren't many options to raise the tow point.
An insanity pylon would just be in the way, and like a tower, might pull the boat over.
Oh well... Thanks for the help.
