Backyard Mechanic - Finding Voltage Leaks

In the past, I have taken a spraybottle with water and misted the distributer and ignition wires on my old Chevy started it up in the dark; it was easy to find where bad plug wires were allowing spark jump to the exhaust manifold or other ground sources.

Will this work on an OB motor?

You would think,an ignition as an ignition so it should work.
When I read the headline that was what I was going to suggest.
It certainly can't hurt anything.

some times you don't need the water. just dark.

I usually just lick each wire until I find the voltage leak

Why not just a test lead with a probe end, gounded to the block?
