new to forum, looking for help on my floor but this first.

I purchased a 1993 Larson 200Sei with a Merc 5.0 and Bravo One from a motorsports dealer. The previous owner traded it in on a new jet boat and brought it in with a "winterized" tag on it. We later learned that he had allowed it to freeze, filled the engine compartment with water, waited a year, and found someone to winterize it so he could get it traded off the following spring.

The weather and my schedule did not cooperate after purchasing the boat so it sat on the trailer for 6 or 7 weeks. A failure occurred on the third time I used the boat when the starter failed to engage the flywheel-the shaft of the starter was so corroded from being submerged that is would not align correctly. I took it to an independent marine repair shop and they immediately pulled the engine ($$$). One split exhaust manifold, starter and generator badly corroded.

I'll add pictures tomorrow.

With a diagnosis from a third party, the dealer agreed to correct the problem but wanted to see it for himself. I had to pay for the engine removal, diagnosis and transport back to the dealer. I decided that because he was a reputable dealer that he would be my best bet for getting back on the water.

The dealer accepted my explanation regarding the delay in discovering the condition and acknowledged his responsibility. He donoated all labor and the parts that were damaged. I bought some additional parts as precautionary maintenance since the motor was being freshened up. All said and done, the complete engine rebuild cost around $700. I didn't want to spend more on it but for a new motor I thought that I was a good investment.

It has worked great ever since - the engine is perfect. My teenagers especially enjoy the 13 person capacity rating! With a 4-blade prop it easily pulls four 72" "Super Screamer" tubes.

I think that I want to replace the carpet but the floor deck scares me. I will keep you posted.
