Morning,
I have a 1988 7.4 Mercruiser 454 Wellcraft 28' that's blowing oil badly. It never lost oil pressure or got hot I just tuned it up and installed new ignition parts and it ran great it loses about a quart and hour had over a quart in bilge. It made the cabin stink that's: how i found it.
It seems to be in the front of the motor its leaking on belts and flying all over. It only leaks when underway. I suspect the raw water pump or timing cover i cant really find it because the motor is all black in color. Any help would be awesome thanks in advance!

A quart an hour is a pretty good size oil leak......could be timing cover could be intake valley gasket or oil pan/front seal,

If you have a smart phone with a flash stick it down there and take pics, or use a digital camera..........have you checked to see if the crank case is building excessive pressure?

I did not check crank case pressure not sure how to. I have a compression tester. If i were to guess its leaking onto the belts i could see where it was spraying my holding tank from the alt belt.
