bad piston and score cly on 135hp johnson 1976

i have a 1976 johnson 4 cyl with 1 bad piston and a slightly scored cyl is it worth the trouble to remove the power head to fix problem on and old motor can you replace this piston on the motor with powerhead installed<br />please help bobogle@aol.com

Howdy, Bobby.<br /><br />Sorry you have such a problem. <br /><br />"Is it worth it to fix it?" That is a question only you can answer. To me? No, but I have the resources to replace it without much pain.<br /><br />"Can it be done without removing the power head?" Very hard or impossible. If you go to the trouble to tear it down, you really ought to fix it right or you may be fixing it again very soon.<br /><br />Unless you really enjoy spending the fishing season in your garage on what might turn out to be a lost cause, replace it.<br /><br />Good luck. :)
