Bad primer

OK, so I used Pettit Protect as a primer, and could not get it to lay flat, no matter what I tried.

I have tried to sand it down, but its pretty tuff.

I would like to use a sandable primer to fill the holes and pot marks.

2 questions, what brand sandable primer to use and will it hold the 2 part epoxy paint I plan on putting over it?

I'm thinking sandable primer is too soft, but need to ask prior to trying and wasting more expensive paint.

Need help, thanks

Re: Bad primer

I put on primer with a roller and ended up with the classic "latex wall paint bumpy surface when applied with a roller" look and feel. I sanded it smooth, and re-applied with a brush. A little more sanding then applied the finish coat.

I was using Interlux products.

Looks like this:

Re: Bad primer

Hello section8..

Petit protect is more of a bottom barrier system for protection of blisters. Not realy a primer for topcoats.

Awlgrip 545..or Awlquick might be better depending on what kind of topcoat your going to use.
