1990 Mercury 175 2 stroke carb - tilt and trim stopped operating sporadically - appeared electrical and checking adjusting fuse connections/also twice it stopped and then was fine at next attempt. Thought it was relays since was getting strong click on on activating at both remote throttle arm handle and engine cowl. Tested using jumper cables and tilt and trim gave no response. Boat is still in water reversed it in slip so could pull relays and test the tilt trim motor - even tested jumper cables ensuring. was getting good voltage - 13v. So now have to figure out how to get boat up launch ramp without damaging new lower end and prop. Figure I can open the valve and lift lower end manually then. retighten the valve to hold it. ( Comments ideas please. ) Next question should just replacing the tilt and trim motor be enough or their other components ie pump and reservoir I should worry about?
