I have a small Geregor boat that I want to put a bait tanks on. I usally fish in San Deigo bay with anchovies or sardines. I would like the bait tank to be portable or someting that is easy to take off. I have seen lots of tanks with Aerators, or spray bars. I also know when I rent boats there they have tanks that send water to the bottom of the tank and the over fill goes out the top over the side of the boat. I was hoping that someone out there will have some ideas or have tanks that work good for them.
Thanks

Re: bait tanks

Most I have seen with the Gregor boats in the 14 foot to 16 foot range use a ice chest. Inside the ice chest they mount the smallest bilge pump they can find and run a plastic tube up to above the water line to a spray bar.

This does a good job at adding air to the water but does nothing to control the temperature. So you may need to add ice or change the water.

You could put in a regular fill pump thru the transom then run the hose up to a ice chest with a fitting. Mount the ice chest on one of the seats so top would be above the gunnels and put a drain fitting in near the top with a overflow hose over the side.

As you probably know anchovies do not like air bubbles like from an airateor.

I have the Kodiak for my boat. It sits on the swim step and I can take it on or off in around 5 minutes.
