balance a prop

I have a stainless steel prop in the shop( got it from my brother in law) that got drug on the pavement enough to take off about a quarter of an inch of steel. The prop shop says $85.00 and he can fix it as good as new....balanced and ready to go. My question is: Does anyone know how a prop is actually balanced? and will it be obvious once the boat is run if it is out of balance? Thanks in advance.

If its out of balance -- weight wise -- youll know it right away. <br /><br />When they balance a prop theres a lot more involved than weight. They "balance" the bite on each blade to be the same too. 85.00 seem reasonable.<br /><br />Good luck!
