This may be a dumb question, but my deck drain scuppers are leaking, they are the ball type. I'd like to loose the ball type and replace them with something like this flapper type.

Is it as easy as just removing the ball type and mounting this style, or am I limited to removing what is there and replacing it with the same thing?

Thanks

You can do either type I'd imagine. They both will leak a tad, they are designed to stop a massive in flow of water, not to stop it completely. Basically a check ball.

The ones I have on there now do not let the ball seat fully so water is free to spill in and fill the bilge. A little leakage is ok, but not what I have now. It's bad enough the last owner just plugged them.

Just replace them with the same type, I'd imagine if the po plugged them they were wore out to begin with.
