Barely running trim motor

I am in the final stages of putting my boat back together. I am rigging the new console and I have run into another problem. I bought a used tilt/trim unit and installed. The unit worked fine if I hooked it up to the battery. Last night I tied it back in to the remote wires, both at the shifter and under the cover. The tilt motor barely runs, will not lift the motor. I have spark to my engine, it starts and runs. I am a liitle stuck as to what my next culprit may be. All was working fine with the old unit, it just developed a leak in the casing. Should I suspect relays, even though they were working? Thanks in advance for the help?

Take a jumper battery and go right to the motor connections to see if the problem is the pump motor of wiring, if it works you either have a bad connection or solinoid and will have to test with a volt meter

Yeah, the trim motor works fine if I bypass everything and hook straight to the batery. Do you think a wire problem/connection issue?

Yes hook a voltmeter to the battery wires where they connect to the solinoid and ground at the pump and run the pump if the voltage drops there the problem is at the battery connections or a bad wire, if it stays up just work yoer way to the pump motor with the red wire a connection at a time till the voltage drops
