Re: base timer

If it sticks, then releases, the engine will hesitate and possibly die out. If it sticks and does not release, the spark stays retarded. If one of the six sensors are bad, the related cylinder will have no spark.

Now, are you going to tell us what kind of problem you're having?

Re: base timer

well i ask about it cause i did all the johnson place in my area and know one can solved my mystery problem...after you run in midrange rpm for 3 or 4 min after you start the engine beggin to make alots of detonation ...something creates alots of heat in the head chamber to creates that detonation... i try to let the engine run cooler and it doesnt work i try to retard the timming and it didnt help ... the only thing left in my mind is that someone shaved those heads to raise that compression so it create to mutch heat.... now i try to figure out the oem compression and the squish of it ..squish is the space bettween head and top piston on the top side piston went the piston is at tdc ... you measure that with solder.. you insert that in spark plug till u in the wall same way of the wrist pin and than you squeeze it with piston ... the gap you get they call that "squish" dont know where to call to get the original one ....

Re: base timer

After reading your last post, I believe that you have also been contacting me via email. The compression on that model is usually 95 psi on on bank and 90 psi on the other. Anything higher than then is inviting pre-ignition.
